The Picket
of
Friday 23 March 2001
of the John Deere Plant
on Spears Creek Church Road at I-20,
Pontiac, Richland Co., SC

We intended to have No Picket of Fri. 23 March 2001
due to the picketers being at the Battle of Lexington
But I hear that Jay Mowery erroneously announced via email that
the Big Picket was 23 March 2001,
so Dean Weems decided to go to John Deere
when the crowd of school kids tapered off at the reenactment.
When he arrived about 3:05 PM he found
Ian Gayle of St. Matthews & Horace of Bishopville & Keith Lassiter
were already there.
Ron Dorgay arrived about 3:30 PM.
They all left at about 4:15 PM except Dean
who stayed a few minutes longer.
Mr. Detrick & a lady photographer
were dispatched from the State Newspaper & came,
mistakenly hearing we were having a big picket!
